Sacrifice
Supplies
(1) ea 5x7" piece of tan and white cardstock
5x5 black cardstock
sticky strip
tag
metal charm
inks and chalks
cricut and printer
Instructions
In a word program, copy out the poem "In Flanders Fields" so that the text is in paragraph form, not poem form ( I have it saved if you would like me to email it to you) and 5" across at least 5" high...
Print the text on your white cardstock leaving 1" on each side
Score each of the tan and white cs pieces at 1/2" and 1" from each of the shorter sides (Picture #1)
Using a circle cutter (I used a coluzzle) cut out a 3 1/4" circle out of the middle of the white cardstock
With the white on top of the tan, lightly trace out the circle onto the tan
Using various shades of greens and browns, and a small paintbrush, chalk out a camoflage background onto the tan extending just beyond the circle shape (Picture #2)
Cut a 4 1/4" circle out of the center of the 5x5 black cs...and using the negative part, adhere to the tan cardstock
Cut out an army shape with your cricut...I used a dingbat called Soldier WW2, and place on top of the chalking positioning so you would be able to view from the hole cut in the white cs when placed on top...I used pop dots for an extra bit of dimension (Picture #3)
Using a border stamp, stamp the outer 1/2" of the white with a brown/green mixture of inks
Ink all the edges of the white, inside the circle and around the outer edge with brown and green inks
Cut a 1 1/2" oval tag and run through printer with words Thank You for your sacrifice, loop a key ring in the hole
Adorn with a small red poppy, topped with a button
Add a metal embellishment to the bottom left side
Put a length of sticky strip on the outer 1/2" of the tan cs and carefully peel and adhere the white on top...crease the folds to form a "box" and display (Picture # 3)
